Derek Curtis
Derek's previous career spanned a variety of roles for Shell across the world, including assignments as Managing Director in South Korea, Ethiopia and Ecuador. He also worked in the former Soviet Bloc, Portugal, Kenya and Venezuela. Upon returning to the UK he headed up Shell’s global in-house competitive positioning strategy consultancy and then became Managing Director of Colas Holdings, a £300 million turnover subsidiary of Shell UK, for five years before retiring from his first career.
For the past eleven years, he has provided executive coaching to many of Britain's most successful senior managers in both the private and public sectors, professional partnerships and the voluntary sector. The work is often with managers facing major changes, moving into leadership roles, or needing to develop skills to operate effectively with non-executive board members. Derek's skill is in to improving their personal effectiveness and the effectiveness of teams working in senior management positions within organsiations.
