PUBLIC COURSES
Our public courses are a terrific way for a few people from your company to gain a passion for Excellence in a great environment away from work. They also meet people from other companies, share their experiences, and come back full of practical ideas to change the way you work.. They enable people to discuss your problems in a relaxed atmosphere [not too relaxed], and come up with great ideas and solutions, as well as to appreciate other companies' issues. It is often the realisation that you are not unique that encourages the sense that change can be made to happen.
We have also had companies bring customers and suppliers with them, in order to develop a common understanding of how to develop their relationships. This is a great way to break down barriers and encourage collaboration.
In 2010 we are offering a special deal whereby you send four people, and one comes for free. We encourage customer and supplier partnership. So send three people from suppliers or three people from customers along, then you can send one person for free.
Key public courses :

One of the weakest areas in many manufacturing companies is the quality of the fundamental data. This practical workshop uniquely sets out how to achieve Data Accuracy in all areas of the organisation. It covers Inventory accuracy, Bill of Material accuracy, Routing accuracy, Work Centre Data accuracy, Planning Data [ Lead Time, Order Quantity, and Safety Stock] accuracy, and points the way to accuracy in Vendor and Customer data. It provides a comprehensive set of principles for identifying inaccuracy, fixing it and then managing the quality of data. It is supported by a 40 page guide on identifying the issues in managing accuracy.
It also suggests how to allocate responsibility for accuracy within the organisation.
Getting the data right will remove the costs associated with the army of people creating transactions and doing reconciliations. It will shrink inventory, as data buffers disappear. It will ensure that your ERP systems work better, your company plans and manages better, and hence will make your company more responsive, improve competitiveness, and minimise costs. It will get rid of the excuse for multiple spreadsheets, and remove the vulnerability associated with this. One key sign that a company does not have accurate data is if it continues with the annual inventory audit, which costs many man hours of time and effort, and costs for the auditors. This can all be eliminated if you follow the principles of the course.
The workshop is designed for all Senior Managers and Team members who are wanting to improve the accuracy of data within the company, or who are engaged in the improvement or implementation of business processes and systems, and find that inaccurate data is a substantial issue.

Lean is about flow and elimination of waste. Companies that embark on a Lean Journey sometimes struggle with outdated financial processes, which are related to batch environments, and seek to control overheads through overhead allocation, inventory through detailed WIP tracking and inventory counting, and performance through complicated and unnecessarily bureaucratic budgetary controls.
This course show how to apply Lean principles in the financial area so that you will:
- Eliminate transactions
- Remove Standard Costing systems
- Use Value Stream costing for decision-making
- Use effective operational measures for control rather than pointless variance reports, driven by effective Strategic Policy Deployment.
- Eliminate the excesses of the Budgetary process by developing a Lean Financial Sales and Operations Planning process
- Price on Value, and Cost on the basis of Targets not Standards.
It is led by Brian Maskell and Ross Maynard, who have great practical experience in this area. Prepare to be challenged!
