Richard Watkins

Since 1991 Richard has operated his own education and consulting firm, which specialises in the understanding and implementation of Integrated Enterprise Leadership [=Advanced Sales and Operations Planning]. He has helped very many companies including Cray Valley (part of the Total Group), GlaxoSmithKline, British Nuclear Fuels Limited, BAE Systems, Sandoz Pharmaceuticals, Van Leer Metallizing, Cooper Bussmann, Rizla, Sanofi-Aventis, Quest International (part of ICI), Levi Strauss EMEA, Messier Dowty International, SAB Wabco, Associated British Foods, Westinghouse Electric, and Syngenta. All of these companies have made significant gains in improving profitability and customer service through the implementation of the concepts supporting Integrated Enterprise Leadership. In this he was associated with Mike Salmon’s Manufacturing Resource Planning Limited from 1990-1998, and with Oliver Wight associates from 1998-2002. All of this was achieved through a mixture of Education and Consulting.

Richard Watkins’ experience with Business Excellence for manufacturing industries started in 1986, when the ICI Agrochemicals Division (now Syngenta) started the first global implementation of an Integrated Global Supply Chain planning structure. Richard was a member of the core Project Team that radically transformed the way the business operated, leading the Forecasting and Demand Management Task Force. This highly successful project led to a 20% plus reduction in inventory, and service levels in excess of 95% worldwide. All of this involved implementing a new way of forecasting and planning across the whole division. This included the development of a global Integrated Enterprise Leadership process, which enabled a monthly financial review of the business, and a long term strategic decision-making process. Richard joined the Project Team from the Product Management group, responsible for the development and marketing of new products into the Public Health and Agrochemical markets.

In 2003 Richard founded the Delos Partnership Limited, which has rapidly expanded to become a global specialist Education and Consulting business, building on the concepts of integration of the supply chain both globally and locally, externally and internally. The organisation now operates with clients in Europe, USA, Latin America and Canada. It has a portfolio of activities which include Public and Tailored in-house Education and Workshops, Coaching and Consulting. Richard teaches on the Integrated Enteprise Leadership, Sales Forecasting, Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Lean and Agile Courses for the Delos Partnership, and has facilitated many successful in-house workshops. These have led to the practical application of the ideas, in which he firmly believes.

Richard gained an MBA from the London Business School [Msc11] in 1978. Before this he had worked for Tube Investments Ltd, in a sandwich course programme. They manufacture Steel Tubes for the automotive, sports goods, nuclear and food processing industries. He gained an MA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford in 1973.
